Jam terms
Who owns what, and how panels can be reused. Everyone agrees to these when they join.
- 01
Your panel stays yours.
You keep the copyright in everything you make for the jam.
- 02
We can show it, always with your name.
By submitting a panel you let Creative Jam Session show it on this site, on our social accounts (posts, carousels, stories and Reels, tagged as a collab with you where we can), and, if you send us a full-size file, in Creative Jam Session prints and exhibitions. Your name goes with it every time. If we ever want to sell something with your panel on it, we'll ask you first.
- 03
Jam artists can build on each other, with credit.
Continuing the edge of the panel before yours is the whole point. You can also bring back an element from any earlier panel in the jam (a character, a shape, a motif) in your own panel, as long as you credit the artist in the "Reused elements from" box when you upload. Their name then appears next to your panel.
- 04
The file before yours is for the join only.
When it's your turn, you get the previous artist's full layered file so you can pick up their edge exactly. Use it only to make your panel. Don't share it, post it or use it anywhere else. Your own file goes to the next artist in the same way. We delete each original from our storage once two more panels are live, so keep your own copy.
- 05
No copying outside the jam.
Nobody may copy, sell, print, repost or train AI on a panel, or any part of it, without the artist's permission. Sharing a link, or reposting with the artist's name and a link back, is fine.
- 06
It's your own work, and you say if AI helped.
You confirm your panel is your work and doesn't copy anyone else's (apart from credited elements reused from the jam). AI tools are allowed if you declare them when you upload: what you used and for what. Your panel then shows an AI label with your note. A panel with undeclared AI use can be taken down.
- 07
Taking a panel down.
If you ever want your panel removed, email us. We'll take it off the site and stop posting it. The chain keeps a blank space so the panels either side still line up.
Privacy
Your email is used to run the queue (your turn, reminders, decisions) and to link your panels to your profile. It's never shown on the site or shared.
Analytics. We use PostHog, hosted in the EU, to see how the jam is used: which pages people visit, where they come from, and where joining or uploading goes wrong. Without your OK, nothing is stored on your device and visits are counted anonymously. If you accept, PostHog stores a cookie so it can recognise your browser, and records anonymous sessions on public pages. Anything typed into a form is hidden, and turn pages and admin pages are never recorded.
When you join, your activity in the queue (joining, accepting, uploading, the review decision) is linked to a code made from your email. The code can't be turned back into your email, and your email is never sent to PostHog.
Changing your mind. To reset your choice, clear this site's data in your browser. To have your details deleted, email us.
